vDos is a utility application fromJHM Schaars. This free app works as a DOS emulator, replacing Windows' NTVDM technology. It allows you to run DOS applications on modern computers. It loads the DOS software on its own window and comes with network and printer support. It also provides other features, such as clipboard access and direct access to your system files.

Unlike DOSBox, however, vDos is not targeted at gaming. It is mainly for text mode DOS applications. Users must also note that the emulator lacks many of the hardware emulations of DOSBox, such as a joystick and basic VGA. 

What is vDos?

Should you use it?

Overall, vDos is a must-have if you wish to go old school and run DOS applications. This emulator mimics the functions of the MS-DOS system, allowing you to run old DOS applications on your modern Windows computer. However, doing so requires knowledge as there are many parameters involved. Additionally, it can only run text mode apps. It is not designed to run old DOS games.
